New Certification Appointment - What to Expect
1. Brief medical history review
The practitioner will review your medical history and ask any clarifying questions if needed. This is not a stressful discussion, so don’t worry.
If the practitioner cannot certify you (ex. active pregnancy, history of cannabis-induced psychosis or cannabis-induced allergy), you will be refunded in full.
2. PA Medical Marijuana Program overview
The practitioner will give you an overview of the types of cannabis products that are available in PA, and an overview of the logistics of the program. (i.e., what to do after the phone call, and what to do next year.)
3. Certification is submitted electronically
The practitioner will type up and submit your certification on the same day as your appointment, and the PA Medical Marijuana Program will send you a confirmation email within about one minute of that submission.
4. After certification
After you are certified, you will need to log back into your patient account on the PA Medical Marijuana Program website and pay the Dept of Health your annual card fee. The fee is $50, but you may request a fee waiver if you receive any state benefits.
5. Done!
The PA Dept of Health (in Harrisburg) will print-out and mail your PA Medical Marijuana ID card. You will receive your card in the mail within about 1-2 weeks on average. (See the PA Medical Marijuana Program website for the most up-to-date printing and mailing times.)
